The Suffolk County Senior Citizen I.D. Card, with an emergency medical panel on the back, is issued free of charge to Suffolk County residents 60 years and over. It is available upon proof of age and residency. Many businesses offer discounts to seniors with a valid I.D. Card. Be sure to inquire at the time of purchase. Think about joining the FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM!! The Foster Grandparent Program matches seniors with special-needs children. Foster Grandparents work 20 hours a week with children in hospitals, schools, day care centers, group homes, recreation and tutorial programs. Activities range from reading, story-telling, tutoring, to playing games and listening. Volunteers receive a small stipend, a meal and transportation assistance.
