Three local haunts in one day - every meal is accounted for............

bun.jpgHow many times a week do you eat out? Yesterday we had breakfast, lunch and dinner custom made for us by one of our favorite local eateries. What luxury!

I Started the day with a Chocolate Chip Scone and a cup of Hazelnut Coffee from A Rise Above on 333 Main Street in Huntington Village. They say it’s the Oldest bakery in town. They have baked goods just like my Grama makes. Gram is 90 years old and still going strong. This bakery puts her right out of business with their cupcakes with mile high frosting and giant Scones. Home style breads and "just like Grama's" cookies. It's a good place for a cup of coffee to go & a yummy to go with it on the way to work or to school.

A quick business meeting and errands took up the rest of the morning, then lunch was at another regular haunt, Gold Mine Mexican Grill. I usually get the Black Bean Soup and a few tacos. Eat the taco’s there or they’ll lose their crunch by the time you get them home. They have several different varieties of Quesadillas and you can customize if you like. If you want to go the "take out" route make sure that you ask for the sides in a seperate container - the pico di gallo tends to make the Quesadilla get mushy. The burritos are stuffed full and the combinations are endless. Try the "Black Eye" buritto if you are partial to black beans. All are excellent. Check out their "Salsa Bar", they usually offer 5 or more different varieties of Salsa for you to try. The prices have recently increased, I'm not too happy about that but you can still feed a (small) family for under $30.

The rest of the afternoon was filled with more meetings and by the time I got home there was no way I was going to cook. My daughter came home from violin rehersal “starving to death” (naturally), so I let her pick what to order for dinner. She asked for what she always asks for: Timothy’s Pizza. That kid will eat pizza for breakfast, lunch and dinner. (My secret - so will I). Timothy's is a tiny little pizza place just south of 25A in Centerport. Her favorite's the Ziti pie. I love the Sicilian pizza – tastes just like Brooklyn pizza, crunchy crust, soft risen dough, real cheese.

So the only thing the kitchen was used for yesterday was dog food preperation. No regrets, but who knows... tonight, I just might try to cook.
