Grecian Corner Cafe - Greenlawn, NYWhy cook when it seems every corner on Long Island has some kind of eatery? Fine cuisine and top-notch restaurants are on the menu here on Today Long Island. I had the best falafel ever today right here on Long Island. If you like falafels (and even if you don’t) you've got to try Grecian Corner Café. Located in Greenlawn, one of the last remaining truly small towns on the island, just east of Huntington village.

The mostly Greek menu has something for everyone. Try traditional Saganaki – a wonderful fried cheese appetizer, or if your taste is more American their burgers rank among the best on Long Island. Try dipping your fries in the Tsakiki sauce – you’ll never go back to boring old ketchup. As I said the Falafel is the best I’ve ever had and my daughter always orders the “Greek in a Pita” it’s a nice sized Greek Salad in a warmed on the grill pita.

The prices are reasonable, you can feed a family of four for under $35. Desserts are in the $5 neighborhood. Try the Galaktoboureko – a teriffic custard and phillo dessert. Yumm! With grapes and ivy and colorful lights decorating the ceiling and adorable little votives on the tables, Grecian Corner Café presents a homey, casual setting. But if you would rather take out just give a call (631) 757-7202 and your order will be ready for pick up in 15 minutes or so. Download their take out menu from their website at www.greciancornercafe.com.

They’re in Greenlawn at 88 Broadway a few blocks north of Pulaski Road just before the Railroad. Eat in or Take out hours are 11-9 Monday to Thursday and 11-10 on Friday and Saturday (Sorry they are closed on Sundays) and I highly recommend that you arrive hungry.
