5 Great places to visit on Long Island with your children

Our quiet tree lined streets, children running and playing in the front yards, these images make Long Island seem so quiet, yet we have so much to offer. There are so many great places to take your family, below are 5 places you should check out this summer.

The Children’s Museum of Long Island – Located at 11 Davis Ave., Garden City, this museum is a wonderful Long Island resource for your family. There are many exhibits to teach your children in a fun and exciting manner, there are hands on projects and art exhibits, and never a dull moment. Entrance fee is $10.00 and free for children under 1.

· A Long Island Ducks game – Located at 3 Court House Dr., Central Islip at Citibank Park, Catch a local baseball game with the kids. The LI Ducks are celebrating their 10th Anniversary Season this year and invite you to come watch them play ball. Support local teams. The website contains the game schedule as well as online ticket sales.

· Once Upon a Dish – Located at 659 Franklin Ave., Garden City, a paint your own pottery studio. This unique activity will be hours of fun, there are classes for both children and adults, so everyone can get in on the fun together. Website offers the class schedule for this activity center.

· Plastercraft Factory – With locations in Commack, Copiague, and Jericho, Fun Craft is celebrating its 20th Year Anniversary! Fun Craft has everything from Plastercraft Painting, to Create-Your-CD, to Stuff-A-Pet, Decorate-your own Pillowcase or Tee shirts. There's no limit to what kids can create at Fun Craft.

· Hempstead Lake State Park – Located in Hempstead, NY, this is the largest lake in Nassau County. The park houses 20 tennis courts, children’s playgrounds, basketball courts, trails for horseback riding, biking and hiking trails, shaded picnic areas, and historic wooden carousel. There is fishing allowed on all 3 ponds, this is a catch and release facility throughout and they do stock fish for your pleasure. This is an amazing park and can be a day full of fun for just pennies.
