SBU's men's and women's basketball head coaches to be inerviewed during America East conference's basketball tip-off luncheon.
America
East conference basketball will officially kick off the 2009-10 season on
Wednesday, October 28, when the league hosts its Basketball Tip-Off Luncheon event in
Hartford, Conn. AmericaEast.com will serve as the fans' source to view
live interviews with all of the conference’s men’s and women’s head
coaches. Stony Brook women’s head coach Michele Cherry will be interviewed at 11:10 while
SBU men’s head coach Steve Pikiell will appear at 1:55.
Fran
Fraschilla, current ESPN analyst and former head coach at Manhattan, St. John’s
and New Mexico, will serve as emcee for the luncheon, which will begin at 12
noon. Men’s and women’s head coaches from the league’s member institutions,
along with conference commissioner Patrick Nero will be present for the
unveiling to the America East preseason polls and preseason all-conference
teams. Commissioner Nero, along with select others, will speak briefly about the
upcoming season. Following the short program, coaches will be available for
questions.
Fans
can visit AmericaEast.com on October 28 to find the coaches’ preseason
selections and view the live interviews with the conference’s coaches conducted
by Eric Frede, who returns for another season as the voice of America East
basketball. Fans can also submit questions for Eric to ask their favorite team’s
head coach by visiting AmericaEast.com.
Stony
Brook’s women’s team opens up its 2009-10 season on Friday, Nov. 13, hosting
Princeton at Pritchard Gymnasium.
The
men’s squad kicks off its home schedule on Nov. 16, hosting Mount St. Mary
College.
All
Stony Brook basketball season ticket packages are now on sale and can be
purchased at the Stony Brook University ticket office, by phone at 631-632-WOLF
or online.
The
athletic ticket office is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through
Friday, and is located in the left corner of the atrium in Stony Brook Arena.
