Team Finishes Third At ECAC Championships -- Congratulations All!!!
Junior Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) won the individual
championship and the women’s cross country team placed third at the ECAC
Championship in Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday afternoon. Van Dalen is the
first Stony Brook runner to win the ECAC individual title since Leonora
Joy ’06 did it in 2002. As a team, the women finished third with James
Madison. It was the final race of the season for the Seawolves, who won their
third straight America East Championship in October.
Van Dalen finished the 5K course in 17:03.3 followed by her
sister, junior Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand), who placed second
with a time of 17:05.6. Junior Lisa Voltaire (Stockholm, Sweden) crossed
in 11th place (17:40.5) and juniors Carolina Cortes (Woodmere,
N.Y.) and Leanne Skrabacz (West Seneca, N.Y.) rounded out the five-person
scoring, placing 31st (18:14.6) and 82nd (19.02),
respectively. Junior Kristina Doyle (Lockport, N.Y.) also ran on
Saturday, finishing 108th with a time of 21:07.2.
